The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises instructed for the State-owned enterprises in rice, palm oil, cement and fertilizer to improve their distribution system for logistic cost reduction up to 75%.
Minister of state-owned enterprises, Dahlan Iskan said the instruction issued for Perum Bulog, PT. Pupuk Sriwijaya, PT. Semen Gresik and State Port Corporate I-IV.

“Our target, logistic delivery term to East Indonesia will be reduced from 15 days to be only 5 days,” he said in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/01/12).

Dahlan said Semen Gresik was instructed to immediately continue its cement manufacture project in East Kalimantan to accelerate cement delivery frequency in this area.

“It is indeed, there is such manufacturer in Samarinda, but Mahakam river shallowing lessen delivery frequency from 10,000-15,000 ton per delivery to be 3,000 ton,” he explained.

In turn, this shallowing would result in delay on cement delivery by 10-14 days.

In addition, he would accelerate the development of Palm Oil Port, Kuala Tanjung in North Sumatera which estimated to be finished on the next year for palm oil shipping rate.

During these times, raw palm oil was transported first with small ships to Singapore from which then moved to bigger ships and exported. Consequently, the transport costs was far more expensive.
For rice, Dahlan instructed to Bulog to not package the rice in small sacks, and replaced them with bigger sack which up to a half ton of capacity.

It meant for the stevedoring process can be faster if compared with present process up to 15 days.
To make it sure, his office was also instructed to the State Port Corporate not to accept rice delivery in small sacks in their ports (*/Bsns).
