Next Year, A Tender For Cilamaya Port

THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION stated the development of Cilamaya Port, Karawang, West Java, to reduce burden on Tanjung Priok Port will be open for tender on next year and started to be built on 2014 or at the lattest of 2015.

The Director of Port and Dredge the General Director of Sea Transportation The Ministry of Transportation, Kemal Heryandri, said the port fit and proper study has been conducted by presently.

“There has been fit and proper study, we hope on 2013 and 2014 tender can be started, or at the lattest on the beginning of 2015. Everything is in efforts to reach it,” he said in the middle of 10th ASEAN Ports and Shipping 2012 Exhibition and Conference in Jakarta, yesterday, 30 May 2012.

He estimated for the project fund would take investment between Rp. 5 trillion to Rp. 10 trillion taken from National Budget.

The amount of investment is lower than Kalibaru Container Terminal or New Priok Port project started on next July.

Costs for New Priok Port terminal development in first stage is projected to take investment of Rp. 22.66 trillion or US$2.47 billion although it is fully supported by a partnership with private party, the IPC.

Kemal said Cilamaya is designated not only as the translocation from Tanjung Priok port, but it eventually has discrete access to the development of Karawang given that it is adjacent with some industrial areas. The development of Cilamaya port targeted to be operated on 2017 need area with the width of 250 hectare both for wet and dry fields.*** (*/bsns)
